The event will be held at Ravindra Bharati Auditorium under the auspices of The Confederation of Telugu Region Malayalee Associations along with the Telangana Tourism Department. At least 4.5 lakh Malayalees live in Telangana, a reality that has prompted the TRS government to lay the foundation of a Kerala Bhavan in Hyderabad. Libby Benjamin, president of the Confederation of Telugu Region Malayalee Associations, said the fund collection centre would be open from 10 am to 10 pm.

“People can packed food, stationery, toiletries, bedsheets, utensils, blankets, clothes, rice bags, medicines, stoves and other relief and rehabilitation equipment. We would also open collection centres in other districts too,” he said.

The Kerala association is expecting chief justice of the Hyderabad high court justice Thottathil B Nair Radhakrishnan, a native of

Kollam

district in Kerala, to grace the occasion. Ministers from Telangana and AP governments are also likely to attend the event.

We are taking the help of CLICK (Culture and Language India Connection), a forum, to help flood victims. The evening snack time programmes at metro stations, scheduled from August 25 to 27, have been postponed to next month as well.”

Telangana police inspectors, several residential apartment committees and schools have come forward to support the flood relief drive.
