residents on Thursday condemned Unique Identification Authority of India (
UIDAI)
notices
questioning their citizenship and demanded it to rectify its flaws.
Locals complained that they face immense difficulties in getting their Aadhaar cards made or making corrections to existing ones.
“Lack of Adhaar card enrollment centers in Old City areas has become a matter of concern for the applicants. The residents in need to apply for new cards or update old ones have to leave home early and stand in long queues to get their tokens,” said a resident, Syed Ghulam Mahmood Hussain.
The UIDAI has served notices to some locals, stating that they had obtained their Aadhaar cards by submitting false documents.
However, residents claimed that UIDAI makes deliberate mistakes despite details being clearly mentioned in the enrolment forms..
“It seems like UIDAI is not serious about its work. Syed is being printed as Sayd although correct spelling is written in the form. Instead of D/O, S/O, W/ O being carried, C/O is being mentioned,” Mohammed Abdul Moin, a local, told TOI.
