Police sources also revealed that, when subjected to the breathalyzer test, the blood alcohol content (BAC) of the offender indicated over 160 mg/100ml (permissible limit is 30 mg/100 ml).
When the incident happened, Savyasachi along with his college friends was going to a private coaching institute. “A home guard, who is the driver, was also in the vehicle, but Savyasachi was driving it when the accident happened,” a KPHB police officer said.
Police took Savyasachi into custody and were mulling registering a case under section 337 (causing injuries due to rash or negligent act) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against him.
KPHB inspector V Srikanth Goud said the victim suffered minor injuries and she was sent home after treatment at a local hospital as an out-patient. It is not known whether Savyasachi has a driver's licence and why he was driving it.
