Hyderabad: On the ocassion of actor
Nutan’s 83rd birth anniversary, some of her top films will be screened at a city theatre as a tribute to the yesteryear diva.
Moving Images Film Club (MIFC), in association with Bimal Roy Memorial Committee and the department of language and culture, Telangana, will host a three-day retrospective from June 21 to June 23 at Ravindra Bharati.
“The event is being held to celebrate the body of work she has done in her career,” said Sanghamitra Malik, working president, Moving Images Film Club.
This year will also mark the 60th anniversary of her film Sujata, which was directed by Bimal Roy.
“We have invited Rinki Bhattacharya, the eldest daughter of the filmmaker Bimal Roy for the inaugural day. Bimal Roy happened to direct Nutan in two of his films which we are going to screen during the event,” Malik added.
Four of Nutan’s films will be screened — Sujata (1959), Anari (1959), Saudagar (1973), and Bandini (1963) during the three-day event.
The retrospective will begin in the presence of Rinki Bhattacharya, Bimal Roy’s daughter, on June 21 and will be also attended by Harikrishna Mamidi, director of language and culture, Telangana.
