NTR Park will not be renamed: KCR

HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday said the government had no intention of renaming NTR Park. Speaking at the launch of actor Balakrishna's 100th movie in the city, the chief minister said he had great regard for “ Anna garu“ (former chief minister N T Rama Rao) and his family, and therefore replacing his name with someone else's was out of the question.

“After Ambedkar's statue was installed near NTR Park, there has been speculation that the park will no longer bear NTR's name. Let me make it clear, NTR Park will not be renamed,“ KCR said.

Expressing his desire to watch Balakrishna`s new film, the chief minister made a `request' to the actor that he should be given the privilege of watching the film first. “ All of us who are here on the dais will watch the film together with our families before it is released,“ KCR said.

“Telugu films should do well in both the Telugu states.This is my wish,“ KCR said.Several bigwigs including Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, K Raghavendra Rao and Dasari Narayana Rao attended the function, apart from cinematography minister. In a lighter vein, KCR referred to Chiranjeevi as `megastar' at the event, but while addressing Venkatesh, he said he did not know what title to use. Venkatesh promptly replied back saying he was known as “Victory“ Venkatesh.
