NRI couple from AP killed, kids injured in US road accident

Rajahmundry: An NRI couple was killed and their two children sustained serious injuries in a road accident in Maryland in the US, when a drunk driver operating his truck in the wrong direction rammed into their vehicle early Monday.The deceased couple, Kotikalapudi Krishna Kishore (45) and his wife Asha Kanna (40), were from Palakollu in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. Their son Suchai and daughter Shivani are currently undergoing treatment in Maryland hospital and are reportedly out of danger.
Krishna Kishore had been working as a software engineer in the US for over a decade. He and his family had visited their hometown just 10 days back. After spending time with his parents in Palakollu, the family celebrated the New Year in Dubai during their return journey to the US.The Telugu Association of North America (TANA) and local community volunteers are coordinating support for the injured children and assisting with transportation of the couple's mortal remains to India.In recent months, several fatal accidents involving individuals from the Telugu community in the US have been reported. In Dec 2025, two students from Telangana pursuing their Masters in the US died when their car lost control on a sharp curve and plunged into a valley while on a sightseeing trip to the Alabama Hills.In July last year, a family of four from Hyderabad — Venkat, his wife Tejaswini, and their children Siddarth and Mrida — died in Texas when a mini-truck crashed into their SUV head-on.
