Hyderabad: BRS working president
KT Rama Rao on Wednesday claimed that not a single rupee of public money was wasted on the Kaleshwaram project and accused the Congress govt of spreading false propaganda about it. He was speaking after unveiling a documentary on the Kaleshwaram project, produced by BRS leader Rakesh Reddy, at Telangana Bhavan. He termed the project as a boon for Telangana.
"Former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had initiated a project to bring water from Kondapochamma Sagar to Gandipet at an estimated cost of 1,100 crore. However, the chief minister increased the project's estimates sevenfold to 7,400 crore to send money to Delhi Congress leaders," he alleged.
Speaking at the meeting, KTR said the Kaleshwaram project ensured Telangana did not face water scarcity even during drought. "Congress leaders are making trivial comments, claiming that if two out of 85 pillars sink, the entire project is a failure. The total expenditure for the Kaleshwaram project was 93,769 crore, of which 4,000 crore was spent on land acquisition for the Medigadda barrage. The cost of restoring the two sunken pillars in the seventh block is 300 crore," the BRS leader said. KTR said that the party would take the Kaleshwaram documentary, produced by Rakesh Reddy, to every household in Telangana.
