He, however, clarified that it has not recorded temperature of 51 degrees Celsius in Kottagudem or 50 degrees Celsius anywhere in the state. Bhadram said that to record the maximum and minimum temperatures, the set-up has to be scientific. Also, the meteorological department does not have an observatory in Kottagudem and the Indian Meteorological Department does not take responsibility for the reported high temperatures, Bhadram added. Meanwhile, the mercury in the city once again inched towards 43 degrees Celsius mark on Sunday. "It is swinging between 41 and 43 degrees Celsius," Bhadram said. Asked why there were no isolated showers in the city as experienced in Srikakulam and Vishakapatnam districts, he said it was because the wind in this part of the region was devoid of moisture and extremely dry.
