HYDERABAD: Amid the controversy over chief minister

K Chandrasekhar Rao

The din over the CM avoiding the statue inauguration, not wanting to share the dais with Modi and alleged differences with Chinna Jeeyar refuses to die down.

Sources associated with the event recalled that in the invitation letters prepared three months prior to conducting ‘Ramanuja Sahasrabdi

Samaroham

’, it was mentioned that Modi would unveil the statue, while the ‘dynamic fountain’ (leela jala neerajanam) would be inaugurated by KCR.

“A plaque for the dynamic fountain was prepared by the ashram and organisers which had only KCR’s name and did not carry the PM’s name. Since KCR did not turn up, the fountain plaque was not placed during the event,” sources told TOI.

The dynamic fountain is located close to the statue and installed to provide lighting to the main statue.

Ashram organisers suspect that some persons unnecessarily created a wedge which, they said, will be sorted out soon.

“Efforts are on to explain these things to the CM to clear the air and the issue will soon blow over,” they said.

Sources said KCR knew every detail about the programme since it was he who had extended all cooperation for the event.

“There is not an iota of truth that CM KCR was insulted. Even during the PM’s programme, the Special Protection Group was sent the protocol details that the CM was supposed to sit beside the PM on one side and governor on the other side and that KCR would give his speech at the event,” sources close to Chinna Jeeyar said.

On the cancellation of KCR’s visit, the chief minister’

s office

officially informed the ashram at about 4pm on the day (February 5) of unveiling of the statue.

After this, Chinna Jeeyar invited KCR for ‘

Shanti

kalyanam’, which was the last and most important ritual as it would wind up the 12-day samaroham, the organisers said. However, the CM skipped even this ritual.
