HYDERABAD: MIM chief Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi is a demanding man. He has bid goodbye to electoral politics but he has remains close to the people and politics.
He will now supervise the performance of his sons Asaduddin and Akbaruddin as they go about performing their roles as MP and MLA respectively.
"Getting elected is not enough. They have to shine everyday," Salaar said.
Salahuddin Owaisi has a good conduct certificate for Asaduddin. "He is young, energetic, qualified, more capable and efficient than me," he said.
Talking to The Times of India on Thursday, Salaar said Asad was a politician in his own right and his popularity was not based on his descent.
"Asad won with a better majority than I. In the past, the MIM depended only on Muslim votes, but now the trend has changed and the party gained immense support from the weaker sections and rural people as well," he said.
Asaduddin may have become MP but "He is my son at home but when it comes to party affairs he will be treated as a worker," he said.
Owaisi senior was in active politics for 51 years. He was opposition leader in the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad council for nine years, MLA for 22 years and MP for the last 20 years.
He will now "stay away from active politics and concentrate on party work and manage the institutions run under Darussalam Educational Trust. "The MIM will be strengthened in other districts too as people want the party there," he said.
