HYDERABAD: The government on Wednesday appointed I Venkat Rao, former editor of Andhra Jyothi, as chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Press Academy. The general administration department (GAD) issued the orders on Wednesday to this effect. He will have a term of two years.
The government has also nominated other members to the governing council of the Press Academy.
These include R J Rajendra Prasad, Jyotirmaya Sharma, Zahid Ali Khan in the category of working editors, D Amar, K Satyanarayana, A Anjaneyulu, G Anjeneyulu, R C Krishnaprasad as nominees of the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists, M Nageshwara Rao, principal, Eenadu School of Journalism, and Uppala Laxman as state government nominees as eminent persons, K Sudhir Kumar and P Vijayalaxmi as representatives from the Telugu and Padmavathi Mahila Universities. The directors of All India Radio and Doordarshan will also be in the council, according to information.
