HYDERABAD: The NASI-Reliance industries platinum jubilee award 2013 has been conferred on Dr. S Sridhar, principal scientist & project leader, chemical engineering division, CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad for his innovative research work in the field of Physical Sciences.
The NASI-Reliance Industries platinum jubilee award-2013 award carries a plaque, citation and a cash prize of Rs Two lakhs which was presented by Goa governor Bharat Vir Wanchoo at the 83rd Annual Session of NASI held at Goa on December 5, 2013.

Dr. Sridhar is a Chemical Engineer from Osmania University, Hyderabad who has been working as a scientist in the area of Membrane Separation Processes at the CSIR- IICT, Hyderabad for the past 15 years. During this period he has developed several technologies for chemical industries besides contributing immensely to rural welfare through water purification projects.
Dr. Sridhar has conducted several academic development programs through extensive HRD, spreading of technological awareness and laboratory development in several schools and colleges. Some of the major highlights of his contributions include: (i) Commissioning of several membrane pilot plants of varying capacities based on Electrodialysis, Nanofiltration and Gas Permeation to facilitate solvent recovery, effluent treatment and gas purification in pharmaceutical, textile and petrochemical industries, and (ii) Design and installation of 10 defluoridation plants of 600 - 4000 L/h capacity for purification of ground water for one lakh population in fluorosis affected villages of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
Dr. Sridhar has published 92 research papers including 6 review articles in reputed international journals such as Journal of Membrane Science, Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Research, Macromolecules, Water Researchand Chemical Engineering Journal. His publications are widely cited by peers and some of his contributions have been cited over 2300 times in high impact journals including Nature Materialsand Journal of American Chemical Societywith a h-index of 25.
He has seven international patents to his credit including US and UK patents, besides 4 Book Chapters. He has trained 200 B.Tech./M.Tech & M.Sc. students from different universities and institutes including BITS-Pilani, IITs, NITs, OU and JNTU for project work. Dr. Sridhar is a recipient of 14 prestigious awards including Scopus Young Scientist Award 2011, CSIR Young Scientist Award 2007, Hindustan Dorr Oliver Award 2012, Engineer of The Year Award 2009, A.P. state Govt. and Amar Dye-Chem Award 2003.
