HYDERABAD: Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu on Monday took on the roles of a structural engineer, an interior designer and a vaastu expert to advise the officials on details like the colour of the paint to be used on the Secretariat building.
While inaugurating the newly-built H-Block building in the Secretariat complex, Naidu used the occasion to lecture officials on the advantage of lowering the north-eastern side of a structure.
1x1 polls

This is a principle of vaastu, but the CM was quick to deny he had any faith in the science. After the function as Naidu was about to get into his car to go back to his office, he noticed a group of reporters and asked their opinion on the colour chosen by the roads and buildings (R&B) department. When a reporter said cream may look good, Naidu said he thought so too and asked R&B principal secretary Janaki Kondepi to use the same colour on the Secretariat complex.
The colour selected, the chief minister proceeded towards the D-Block, which is under construction. At the entrance itself, Naidu said he was not satisfied with the portico. "It should be much bigger to fit into the grandeur of this building," he said. The D-Block, being built with a budget of Rs 22 crore, will have centralised air-conditioning. It will house 13 departments.
Later, the chief minister told reporters that the H-Block would have a library, and separate gyms for men and women. He said the gym would be used by the Secretariat staff.
