The statue, to be installed in the middle of Khammam town's Lakkaram lake, shows NTR as Lord Krishna - a character he played in several films.

Organisations like the Sri Adibatla Sri Kala Peetham, All India Yadava Mahasabha, Krishna Chaitanya Tripurani and others have objected to this saying it hurts their religious sentiments.

The NTR Vigraha Erpatu Committee, headed by state transport minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar, was to unveil the statue on May 28 ahead of NTR's birth centenary celebrations.

'NTR had essayed Lord Krishna in several hit films'
Chalakani Venkat Yadav, counsel for the Yadav Mahasabha said none of the idols of Lord Krishna look like NTR and hence this statue will offend sentiments of devotees
