Hyderabad: Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) arrested a Mumbai-based drug peddler in Old City and seized 40 grams of MDMA from his possession.
Mehraj Kazi, 34, of Andheri was arrested near Charminar while waiting for customers. Mehraj confessed to the police that he procured the contraband from a Suraj Goswami of Mumbai, who is on the run.
Police have launched a manhunt to nab him.
Mehraj procured one gram of MDMA for 3,000-4,000 and sells the same in Hyderabad for 10,000.
According to city commissioner CV Anand, after international law enforcement agencies cracked down on cocaine and
heroin supplychains, demand for synthetic drugs like MDMA has seen a rise and Mumbai-based peddlers like Mehraj are catering to needs of city clients. tnn
