<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">TIRUPATI: Putting at rest speculation over his defection to the TDP, G Muddukrishnama Naidu decided to stay with the Congress in spite of the "humiliation and insults’’ meted out to him.’’<br /><br />Fighting back tears, the Congress spokesman told reporters that his rivals in the party had spread rumours that he received money to defect to the TDP.
These rivals had also begun conspiring to have him defeating in the election, he said. Naidu admitted feeling "suffocated" in the party but said he decided to stay on whether or not he got a ticket for the Puttur seat in Chittoor.<br /><br />"I served the TDP for 20 years under N T Rama Rao. I joined Congress like an orphan and have been serving the party sincerely for six years," he said.<br /><br />Asked whether he could change his decision if the TDP offered him the Puttur ticket, he said he would not accept it at any cost.<br /><br />Naidu denied reports that he had talks with TDP leader D K Audikeshavulu Naidu and discussed defection with TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu in Hyderabad.<br /><br /><formid=526372></formid=526372></div> </div>
