HYDERABAD: In yet another blow to the already struggling Central Power Distribution Company Limited (CPDCL), Kothagudem Thermal Power Station (KTPS) unit-8 and Vijayawada Thermal Power Station (VTPS) unit-2 tripped on Monday. The power distribution company is set to lose 400 mega watts a day due to the technical snag.
"Imports and gas power generating sub-stations will cover the loss.
We are adjusting it in other parts of the state. The snag was due to the wear and tear. Agricultural load has come down," a CPDCL official said.
In the meanwhile, the woes of residents of Secunderabad do not seem to end as the power cuts ranging from one to four hours would continue for a few more days. The residents would have to bear the power cuts for another two more days as a technical sang erupted in the 132 KV underground power cable line between Moula Ali and Chilklguda for the second time.
Residents of Lalaguda, Osmania University, Sithaphalmandi, Chilkalguda, Monda Market, Gymkhana, Airport, James Street, Clock Tower, Bowenpally and Secundeabad Cantonment Board (SCB) have been subjected to loadshedding.
"It will be repaired and the supply will be restored most probably by Wednesday," the CPDCL official said.
The snag erupted in the cable joint and it was in close proximity to the earlier snap that occurred on May 4 in between Secunderabad and Musheerabad, the official said.
In a related development, industrial units which continue to bear a day's power holiday in the city would be spared off the load reliefs by next week. The CPDCL official said that the one-day power holiday for industries would be lifted after taking stock of the load behaviour.
