Minor fire in Secretariat
A worker noticed smoke billowing out of Room No. 316, which houses the office of section officer of the general administration department (GAD), on the third floor of `B' Block. The fire outpost on the Secretariat premises was alerted. Firemen rushed with an advanced fire technology (AFT) to the spot a few minutes later and doused the fire.
"Had it not been noticed in time, it would have caused major damage.

Due to overload and lose wiring, the mishap occurred," Hyderabad district fire officer P V Ramana said. Electrical switchboards and a cooler were damaged in the accident, while the entire room and a floor above were enveloped in thick black soot.
Power supply was suspended to the third floor for the entire day.
While the fire outpost personnel were the first to rush to the spot, two more vehicles from Secunderabad and Gowliguda fire stations were also pressed into service.
A couple of months ago, a minor fire was reported near `K' Block.
