Hyderabad: A minor fire broke out at Kasu Brahmananda Reddy (KBR) National Park in Jubilee Hills on Saturday night, triggering concern among morning walkers and residents amid ongoing infrastructure works in the surrounding area. However, officials confirmed that none were injured in the incident.
According to locals, flames were noticed at around 8 pm near a corner of the park, close to the stretch where flyover and underpass construction works are underway. With temperatures remaining extremely high due to the summer heat, people feared the blaze could spread further into the green cover.
However, fire officials clarified that the incident was minor in nature. “The call was received around 8 pm. Some dry leaves piled up in one corner caught fire. The blaze was extinguished within 10 minutes before it could spread,” an official from the Punjagutta Fire Station said.
Officials added that the leaves had reportedly been swept up and piled earlier by GHMC sanitation workers. A gardener at the park noticed the smoke and acted swiftly, along with firefighters, to control the flames.
