Minister directs officials to expedite ongoing healthcare infra works
Hyderabad: Reviewing healthcare infrastructure projects at the secretariat, health minister Damodar Raja Narasimha directed officials to expedite ongoing construction works and ensure the timely completion of hospitals and other health facilities across the state.
During a review of projects being executed by the Telangana State Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TGMSIDC), the minister instructed officials to install medical equipment in teaching hospitals where more than 70% of the construction work has been completed, enabling the facilities to become operational at the earliest.
He also directed officials to complete all construction works undertaken under the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP) within a year and ensure that ongoing minor and major civil works in TVVP hospitals are finished within the next three months.
The progress of teaching hospitals being developed under the Director of Medical Education (DME), including projects taken up during the third phase, was reviewed. Land acquisition issues and construction timelines were discussed in detail.
The minister reviewed the status of nursing colleges, hostels, govt general hospitals, maternal and child healthcare centres, critical care blocks, and the establishment of central medicine stores in the CURE region. He instructed engineering officials to accelerate pending works while maintaining quality standards.
He also reviewed plans for the upgradation of hospitals and the branding of super-specialty hospitals across the state. Additionally, he directed senior officials from the engineering and health departments to submit a comprehensive report on the construction of Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across Telangana.
