“The Gandhian policy of total prohibition should be introduced in the state,” Akbaruddin Owaisi said.

The AIMIM MLA from Chanrayangutta explained that there was hardly any effort by the government to educate people against consumption of liquor. He said the government was earning huge amounts through the sale of liquor.

“Since this is the case, the name of the Excise and Prohibition should be changed. In this scenario, it is better to drop the word ‘prohibition’ from the name of the department,” he said.
