"A huge number of construction workers belonging primarily to Bihar and Jharkhand gathered at Secunderabad railway station. The workers were misinformed about trains running from today," a Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel stationed at the entrance of the railway station told TOI.

Around 200 people gathered at Lingampally, Ghatkesar, Moula Ali, and

Vikarabad

railway stations each on Tuesday morning. The workers had been informed that they would be able to get tickets from the reservation counters on the stations.

"The ticket reservation counters were to be opened at select locations across twin states including Secunderabad, Warangal, Vijaywada and Guntakal only for people applicable for railway quotas and for special trains being run from Tuesday across the rail network," read an official statement from

South Central Railway

(SCR).

SCR officials have informed that the ticket counters are only open for High Official Requisition (HOR) holders, politicians, freedom fighter, Divyangjan passengers, eleven types of patients as classified by Indian Railways, and students.

The RPF and Government Railway Police (GRP) at the railway stations are asking the workers to get registered at police stations.

"We are assuring them that transportation to their native states will be available soon. We also keep food packets and water bottles with us to provide the workers gathering at the station with them. We are receiving help from a number of NGOs and local people who are serving food to the workers," the RPF personnel added.
