HYDERABAD
: The city is abuzz with excitement as Messi fans gear up for what many are calling a “once-ina-lifetime moment”.
The Hyderabad FC Barcelona fan club is organising a parade outside Uppal stadium, with more than 200 supporters expected to join. A massive 30x30 tifo is also in the works.
“We’ve put in weeks of effort to make this special. The tifo is almost ready, and we’re screening FCB vs Osasuna at 11 pm, which should draw another 80–100 fans,” said Karthikeya, a member of the club. “We’ve also prepared 1,500 Messi-themed custom cards as souvenirs.”
Fan groups are hosting screenings of Messi’s iconic matches, from Champions League hat-tricks to his 2022 World Cup triumph.
For many, the anticipation is deeply emotional. “I’ve followed Messi since I was ten. I cried when Argentina won the WC. The idea of him being in my city is overwhelming,” said 21-year-old Rahul Kumar.
Young fans say they’ve been saving up for merchandise. “We’re buying jerseys and posters. Our whole group is turning up for the parade,” said 17-year-old Amar from Kukatpally.
