CHARMINAR: Employees of urban health centres and 108 ambulance on Wednesday staged a protest seeking relief from their pending issues at Puranapul health office.
Nurses and other staff also joined the protest on account of the state government’s alleged failure to fulfil its promises of providing jobs for the past few years.
“We have been working on contract basis for 10 years but our problems are yet to be addressed.
Though the chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao promised to regularize all contract employees, our work is yet to be confirmed. All we got are hollow promises,” said Laxmi, a staff.
The angry staff also told TOI that insufficient salaries were paid once in six months.
“Such negligence towards our problems has been a challenge for us,” added Laxmi.
Another nurse,
Vanishree said desperate pleas to the government has not been heard. “We conduct doorto-door survey to motivate people towards government health services. We motivate women patients for deliveries and also carry out polio drives. We have to bear our travel expenses and also not given any benefits,” the nurse said.
The medical employees urged the government to regularizing their services or face protests.
