HYDERABAD: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday appealed to the people to realise that BJP is not contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha election on welfare and development plank, but with the main objective of changing the Constitution and removing reservations.
“All the 17 previous Lok Sabha elections were contested mainly on welfare and development agenda by political parties. However, the 18th general election has become crucial to save your rights and equal opportunities. Through generations, SCs and STs are trying to join the mainstream with the help of reservations. And, now BJP wants to remove your quota and snatch all your rights and opportunities,” Revanth said, addressing a street corner meeting in Patancheru.
Stating that while Congress has fielded a BC candidate Nilam Madhu Mudiraj from Medak, the CM said: “BJP candidate M Raghunandan Rao is not new to you all. He is an ex-MLA from Dubbak and did nothing. BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao has fielded MLC P Venkatram Reddy, who snatched the land of farmers and misused police against them.”
“For the last 25 years, people of Medak have been voting for BJP or BRS. All the industries and PSUs like BHEL, BDL, Ordnance Factories were brought to the constituency by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi whom you had supported in difficult times for Congress. Now, vote for the BC candidate Nilam Madhu and I assure you of the overall development,” Revanth said.
