HYDERABAD: Roadside encroachments on city’s major arterial roads are likely to be cleared much before the start of the Afro-Asian Games.
The Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad’s (MCH) operations, being carried out in a phased manner, will continue till October 16.
MCH additional commissioner M V Satyanarayana said demolition squads gather at the head office in the morning and, after a meeting, proceed with a brief to their respective destinations to remove encroachments.

Satyanarayana said the entire operation was being monitored by city planners. They submit an action taken report every day, he added. “If any backlogs build up, the concerned officer will be held responsible,� he added.
Encroachments from Jubilee Hills check post to Dr Marri Channa Reddy Institute, Himayathnagar crossroads to Liberty crossroads and from Jubilee Hills check post to the Begumpet airport and NFCL Monappa Island to Greenlands have already been removed, the MCH official said.
