HYDERABAD: An MBBS second year student from the state studying in Dalian Medical University in China was caught with a stolen pistol at a cinema at Langer Houz in the city on Saturday night. He was caught at the door frame metal detector installed at the cinema.According to police, the accused M Sravan Kumar, 19, was a native of Mandamarri village in Adilabad district.
Police said Sravan Kumar had failed to clear his first year examinations. On his return to the state in April, Sravan Kumar's parents reportedly chided him for his failure to clear his first year papers. Kumar came to the city and was wandering here since then.
On the night of May 23, he broke into the office of Globe Travels opposite to Ravindra Bharathi but he could not find any money. He, however, stumbled upon a 7.65 mm pistol of Yugoslavia make and 17 live rounds of ammunition. He also stole an expensive Rado watch and some foreign currency.Sravan Kumar then looked for an opportunity to approach prospective customers to dispose off the stolen weapon.On Saturday night, Sravan Kumar went to the Pratap cinema at Langer Houz to watch a movie but when entering the cinema the metal detector at the entrance sounded a 'beep.' One of the staff at the cinema, Narsing, alerted the manager Lakshman Rao who in turn called up the police.
