Matka betting den raided, 9 arrested

HYDERABAD: Special Operations Team (SOT) sleuths of Cyberabad busted a gambling racket in the city and arrested nine offenders belonging to two gangs on Friday.
SOT cops of Shamshabad raided a matka betting den at Yerrakunta in Pahadeshrif and arrested the organiser Md Pasha.
On his confession, police arrested Syed Azam of Dabeerpura and based on the information given by him, police apprehended punters, Md Wahab, Md Habeeb, Abdul Basith, Syed Afzal, Md Jalaluddin and Md Ismail from their houses in Pahadesharif.
During the interrogation, Azam revealed that Farooq from Nagpur is the gang's main bookie. Th police seized Rs 9.25 lakh cash, 15 cell phones and other incriminating evidence from the offenders.
The Special Operations Team cops of Madhapur have arrested matka bookies Md Siddique Ali, Md Rafi and P Harish Kumar at Patancheru and seized Rs 2.87 lakh cash, four cell phones and 122 matka chits.
