Hyderabad: Hayatnagar cops intercepted a DCM van at Abdullapurmet on the NH-65 on Sunday night and seized 2,016 kilos of marijuana worth over Rs 2 crore.
Acting on a tip-off, Hayatnagar police conducted vehicle checking at Abdullapurmet on Sunday nightand intercepted a DCM van (AP 05 TB 7429). They found 84 plastic bags in the vehicle containing 2,016 kilos of marijuana. Cops arrested DCM driver G Raju, cleaner Ch Veera Babu, both of East Godavari district, and peddler P Nagaraju of Warangal.
On interrogation, the trio said they had picked up the marijuana at Maredumilli in East Godavari district from an unknown person to deliver the consignment at Keesara. "The driver took Rs 80,000 to deliver the consignment," Hayatnagar inspector J Narender Goud said. The market value of the seized marijuana could be over Rs 2 crore.
Cops also seized three cell phones and Rs 5,000 cash from them. The trio was booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and remanded in judicial custody.
