HYDERABAD: A 21-year-old man, identified as A Sachin Satyanarayana, was arrested by Kushaiguda police of Rachakonda commissionerate on Monday for killing his wife, T Sneha (21) on Jan 16. The victim was in the seventh month of her pregnancy.
The murder was so brutal that when Sachin strangled Sneha in an attempt to kill her, the force applied caused the foetus to be expelled from her womb, leading to the death of Sneha and the unborn child on the spot, said police.
After killing them, Sachin opened the valves of the gas stove and lit them, trying to pass it off as a fire accident. However, as the fire did not spread, he fled the spot, said a police official.
Neighbours, who noticed the woman and the child in a pool of blood, alerted the cops, following which police started a probe and arrested Sachin, said Kushaiguda SHO G Anjaiah.
According to police, Sachin and Sneha married two years ago after they became acquainted through Instagram and fell in love. Due to disputes between them, the couple was staying apart for the past few months. However, a month ago, they reunited and were residing in a rented house at Kapra near Kushaiguda.
Sachin suspected Sneha of having an affair as she allegedly became pregnant in his absence. During the early hours of Jan 16, when Sneha was in deep sleep, he sat on her stomach, smothered her with a pillow, and killed her, said the official.
