Hyderabad: International swimmer Maana Patel and
Karnataka duo Lineysha AK and Nina Venkatesh created new meet records in the women's category while
Aryan Nehra set a meet record in the men’s 400m freestyle on the opening day of the National senior aquatic championship at the GMC Balayogi Stadium here on Sunday.
Maana Patel clocked 1:03.48 in the 100m backstroke to better her own record of 1:04.33 set at the Nationals in 2018.
In the 200m breaststroke, Karnataka’s Lineysha rewrote her own record with a timing of 2:37.35, improving the 2:39.38 set in Guwahati last year. Another Karnataka swimmer Nina Venkatesh clocked 27.74 in the women’s 50m butterfly to erase Divya Satija’s record of 28.33 set in Bhopal in 2019.
Earlier, Aryan Nehra of Gujarat clocked 3:52.55 to improve the Kushagra Rawat’s record of 3:53.68 created in Bengaluru in 2021.
Telangana’s Vritti Agarwal brought some cheer to local fans as she bagged the bronze medal in the women’s 400m freestyle with a timing of 4:33.33.
