hyderabad: the hyderabad district officials tested the patience of candidates for anganwadi workers' posts here on thursday as the interviews were inordinately delayed. the district administration had invited applications for filling up 800-odd anganwadi posts in the district. over 2,300 women applied for the post. the interviews were scheduled on november 22 and 23.

the candidates were asked to come at 9 a.m., but there was nobody to direct them. many women came along with their children and waited in vain.the lower rung officials kept quiet and when insisted, they said women and child welfare project director m eswaraiah was away in a programme with r&b minister k vijayarama rao. the interviews finally began at 2 p.m. many of the candidates as they had no information about when the interviews would begin. we came here at 8.30 a.m. but were not called for the interview. if that was being delayed, in the mean time, no one even bothered to verify our certificate, a resident of sr nagar who came for the interview complained. she came along with her four-year-old daughter and husband who works in a private firm. he had to apply leave to accompany his wife.their turn came finally at 2.30 pm. as many as 300 candidates were called for interview on november 22 on the first day. the interviews which began late continued till late in the evening.
