Leopard rescued from ICRISAT campus after week long search

Hyderabad: A male leopard, estimated to be around five to six years old, was rescued from ICRISAT research campus in Patancheru, Sangareddy district, after roaming the premises for nearly a week. The animal was captured by forest officials late on Wednesday night using a trap cage placed in areas where it had been frequently sighted.According to Sangareddy district forest officer, Sridhar Rao, several trap cages were installed across the campus after the leopard was spotted on CCTV footage two days earlier. The efforts paid off when the leopard was finally caught and safely transported to Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad for a thorough medical examination.J Vasantha, curator of Nehru Zoological Park, confirmed that the rescued leopard has been placed in the zoo's quarantine block for close observation. A team of veterinary doctors is monitoring the animal. Preliminary health reports suggest that the leopard is in good condition and is deemed fit to be released back into the wild.
