HYDERABAD: Frequent layoffs continue to haunt young IT professionals in the city. In the latest development,

CDK Global

, an enabler of end-to-end automotive commerce, laid off close to 100 employees in Hyderabad over the past two working days, city-based Forum of IT Professionals (ForIT) alleged on Tuesday.

Members of ForIT, a forum that helps retrenched employees fight cases of unlawful termination, met R Chandrashekaram, joint commissioner (Ranga Reddy zone), Telangana labour, employment training and factories department, who promised to ‘take action’ once a written petition has been submitted. The petition on unlawful termination of CDK Global employees will soon be submitted to the state labour, employment training and factories department.

“This illegal act has thrown employees’ lives into a disarray,” said ForIT president Kiran Chandra.

“We walked into the office on Friday..without being given any notice period employees were asked to resign and move out of the company premises in 30 minutes. No reasons or compensation were given,” said a retrenched employee.

The $2billion turnover Nasdaq-listed CDK Global, launched its India operations in May 2015 and has a headcount of 900 in Hyderabad.

Terming the action a part of role redundancies,

Arvind Chaturvedi

, managing director, CDK Global (India) said in a statement, “As we align ourselves with our growth strategy, we would need to review organisational structures and roles from time-to-time. This business-led action impacted 103 employees across centres in Hyderabad and Pune, and actions taken were driven by organizational redundancy as well as employee performance. CDK remains committed to deal with its employees in a professional and empathetic manner, providing the necessary financial and outplacement support where appropriate. These decisions are always made through consultation and mutual agreement.”

“CDK Global continues to be heavily invested in India. It was 800-strong in its first year in India and has grown to 1,400 employees. We continue to recruit and we are looking to add another 150 people in this quarter,” Chaturvedi said.

Economy is like waves in an Ocean...Upward and downward waves in the economy is usual... and nothing to worry ..People cannot think of riding only on high tides !!!They should save for the future when things are going well... many of the youngsters didn''t even bother and spend as though there is no tomorrow. That is the problem.... Our forefathers and brothers lived a very conservative life during 60s and 70s and saved in the for of PSE/PSBs and Govt establishments and private establishments in the form of Tatas and many Industries.... During the last decade, Govt started selling assets and got money and money flowed-into the banks also and the spill out was seen in the form of reckless lending( 70% of the Ne Bikes and Cars on the Indian roads are financed by banks it seems ) and creation of a False "well doing economy " ...Foreigners/Locals also also used India as a heaven for Money laundering and invested in real estate and created a Bubble.... Automatically people also started getting money, had money on hand for purchasing and partying and real estate speculation business thrived(false economy) .However when foreigners started coming to know that underbelly it was a fraud economy(after a series of scams disclosures) , they started withdrawing slowly and the entire economy came to a stand still and people are having job losses and suffering just because they didn''t think of the future.....Some Politicians are also in the business of money laundering along with NGOS and Bollywood biggies and Hospitals and Big Big Hotels are also involved in this ..When things become tight ,people are resorting to theft, Chain snatching, Prostitution, Daylight Robbery, corruption and even ATM/Banks/NBFCs looting !!! That is the present day India .....In essence. If Modiji tries to correct .... Fake Gandhis will cry.Because they are responsible for all the mess in the last 10 years or so .....!!!
