Lawyer couple murder case: Telangana high court seeks status report by March 1

HYDERABAD: Taking a judicial note of the brutal murders of a

lawyer couple

Peddapalli area

, the

Telangana high court

on Thursday issued notices to the state government, the home secretary, the DGP and the police commissioner of

Ramagundam

.

Notices were also issued to other police authorities including the station house officer of

Peddapalli

asking them to file their counters on the same.

, both practicing as advocates, were hacked to death by some miscreants near Peddapalli under Ramagundam police commissionerate on Thursday afternoon.

and justice B Vijaysen Reddy said they were shocked to see the blatancy with which the perpetrators carried out the attack on lawyers. You have to explain many things in the days to come, the bench said addressing advocate general BS Prasad.

The AG assured the court that the state too was viewing the issue with the required seriousness and said that the culprits would soon be nabbed and brought to justice.

Needless to mention, collect all relevant evidence from the scene of the offense and we do not want to hear about lapses on the part of investigators in this regard, the bench said referring to viral videos that were moving around that recorded the dying declaration of Gattu Vaman Rao who, before succumbing to the injuries, spelled out the names of his killers.

When advocate Shravanth Shankar sought a thorough probe into the case, the bench told him that they took Suo Motu note of the incident and said they know which way to go.

Telling the AG that they should send out a strong message that nobody should take the law into their hands, the bench sought a status report from the state by March 1 on the progress made in the investigation.
