hyderabad: the international educational academy, international school, shaikpet held a week-long festival of languages comprising telugu, hindi and urdu, which are being offered as second language in the school. the festival began with a traditional welcome to the chief guest with a poorna kumbham, accompanied by music and vedic chants. the chief guest acharya tirumala srinivasacharya stressed on the need for using telugu.
he said that today english has become the mode of communication. quiz, folk dance, songs and padhayala toranum were the highlights of the two-day telugu festival. vishnu teja and tejaswini of class vi delivered a burra katha. the urdu festival was celebrated in nawabi glory and splendour and the chief guest was editor of siyasat, zahid ali khan. he said, it is important that children know their mother tongue. mushairas and ghazals performed by students were the highlight of the festival. hindi poetess indu vashist was the chief guest for the hindi festival. the students rendered bhajans, enacted skits and performed dances. the grand finale of the event was the visit by eminent scientist a p j abdul kalam. chairman of the school, dr kakarla subba rao, felicitated his batch of 44 on the occasion. the students also had a meeting with the scientist.
