Hyderabad: More than a month after the Film Nagar police arrested a conman impersonating as an Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and duping people, a house owner has approached the police claiming that he too had been cheated.The landlord said that B Shashikanth, claiming to be a bureaucrat working in Delhi, had taken a flat in a gated community.

According to the landlord, the apartment was rented in 2022. However, since Aug 2025, he has allegedly defaulted on rent payments and cannot be traced. However, his family members continue to live in the flat.Meanwhile, the complainant, through an acquaintance in Delhi, enquired about Shashikanth's background and discovered that no such officer works in Delhi's bureaucratic circles.The complainant later found out that Shashikanth had been arrested by the Film Nagar police and that he was a con man who had impersonated an IPS or IAS officer to cheat different people. The police had previously seized various ID cards, a siren and other materials from Shashikanth, which he used to project himself as a police officer involved in undercover operations.Shashikanth had also hired two private security guards who acted as his gunmen and carried walkie-talkies.
