Land grab: Jana Jagruthi chief, 9 others nabbed
HYDERABAD: Ten persons, including forum president of Telangana Jana Jagruthi (TJJ) Kotagiri Usha Rani, were arrested on Friday on the charges of forging documents and grabbing land at Uday Sai Nagar Colony in Hayathnagar. Two other associates are absconding.Rani and her associates had even erected a Ganesh mandap on the disputed land on Vinayaka Chaturthi day, claiming themselves to be the original owners of the land and damaging the compound wall and gate.Apart from Rani, the others arrested include Syed Samad Anwar, Syed Toufeeq, Mohd Sohail Ahmed, K Thanmai, M Sampath Kumar, N Kumara Swamy, K Sarath Chandra, Kanchivoni Mallesh and Nakka Mahesh. Two others — Syed Siraj and Syed Ghouse — are on the run.It all began in 1994 when Siraj, Anwar and Ghouse’s father Abdul Khadar sold 5,951 square yards at Uday Sai Nagar Colony to one M Venkateshwar Rao, father of the complainant, Vemuri Nagalatha. After the death of Rao in 2014, the land was equally divided between his two daughters — Nagalatha and Padmalatha. The complainant constructed a compound wall, installed a gate and appointed a guard.
Siraj, Samad and Ghouse hatched a plan to create fake documents of the land and sell it to earn easy money. The accused, Sohail Ahmed, who was working as a junior assistant in sub-registrar office in Marredpally, helped the trio and created fake sale deed documents. They approached Usha Rani to get them ‘customers’ to sell the land. Rani, who got wind of the plan, herself purchased 4,000 square yards by forging Khadar’s, the previous owner, thumb impression. But, she could not take possession as it was an unregistered sale deed and planned to execute a gift deed of some portion of the land in favour of her daughterand son . On September 6, Rani with the help of her other associates got the registered sale deed by paying Rs 12.5 lakh towards registration and penalty charges. She got it registered in her name and on September 11 and executed registered gift settlement deed of 200 square yards in favour of her daughter and son.
