Telangana is all set to house the world's largest integrated freshwater aqua hub spread over 370 acres at the Mid Manair dam in Rajanna Sircilla district, the state is now working on setting up similar aqua hubs across the state wherever new reservoirs are coming up, Telangana industries minister KT Rama Rao said here on Saturday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Food Conclave 2023, KTR said: "While the Rajarajeswara Sagar has 26 TMC of water, Mallana Sagar has 50TMC, Kondapochamma Sagar has 15TMC...We have a number of reservoirs in Siddipet district and Palamuru also.
It is likely that by August we will have five more reservoirs coming up."
The aqua hub in Rajanna Sircilla will have 300 acres of processing area. It has garnered capital investment of 1,300 crore by four players - US-based Fishin, Rajanna Aqua, Mulpuri Aqua and Ananda group. It is targeting annual exports of 1,000 crore with close to 12,000 direct and indirect jobs. The hub is slated to see fish production of over 1.2 lakh metric tonnes per annum.
