Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao and former minister T Harish Rao have welcomed the
Supreme Court's acknowledgement of the Central Empowered Committee's observation that a potential 10,000 crore financial fraud may have occurred in the land mortgage dealings involving the 400-acre Kancha Gachibowli forest.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday,
KTR said that the Supreme Court's orders validated BRS' allegations that forest land in Kancha Gachibowli was illegally pledged to a private company. He urged chief minister A Revanth Reddy to act responsibly, emphasising that the Congress govt's attempts to misuse power to harm the environment and evade accountability would no longer succeed.
The BRS leader welcomed the Supreme Court's directive to restore the Kancha Gachibowli forest. He described the court's order to the chief wildlife warden to protect the wildlife on the land as a major victory for environmentalists and all who fought to preserve Kancha Gachibowli. He urged the Revanth Reddy govt to stop acting recklessly.
He extended heartfelt gratitude to everyone who opposed the Congress govt's oppressive actions and fought to protect the trees and wildlife in Kancha Gachibowli, particularly the students and faculty of the University of Hyderabad. He credited their tireless efforts for saving the 400-acre forest.
Harish Rao said the apex court's verdict proved once again that courts and civil society would not keep quiet if the state govt thinks it can do anything with power in its hands.
