The accused, who ran a public telephone booth till 1997, toured the United States and the United Kingdom on a sponsored trip.
However, he started claiming that he stood as a winner in the famous euro lottery through which he was going to receive Rs 80 crore immediately after returning from the foreign trip. Many of his friends and bankers lined up in front of Krishna Mohan seeking favours from him.
Taking the situation to his advantage, Krishna Mohan took money from everyone who came to him seeking favours. In one of such attempts, Krishna Mohan took Rs 14 lakh from one Pilli Gandhi of the United States saying that he would return the amount immediately after his prize money was encashed.
Gandhi realised his folly when Krishna began evading talking to him after few months. Then, Gandhi lodged a complaint with the Patamata police, which exposed Krishna Mohan’s plans and attempts made by him to dupe the people.

In a similar manner, Krishna Mohan submitted forged bonds of a foreign bank with the Governorpet branch Andhra Bank seeking a loan of Rs 75 lakh. The bank authorities forwarded the request to the board keeping in view of the huge amount sought by Krishna Mohan.
The Andhra Bank management cross checked with the London bank which issued the bonds through Indian Embassy in London and realised that the bonds were forged by Krishna Mohan only to cheat the Bank.
Then, the bank authorities asked the local branch manager to file a case against Krishna Mohan. Krishna Mohan’s cheating episodes came to an end after filing of two cases with the local police.
The local judge Rajagopala Rao sentenced Krishna Mohan with two years imprisonment and Rs 5,000 fine in one case and another two years imprisonment and Rs 15,000 fine in another case. Police took Krishna Mohan into custody and sent him to the judicial remand.
