'Found girl's photos, videos on accused's phone': Bihar man rapes 12-year-old in train toilet, films it

A 12-year-old girl from Odisha was allegedly raped by a fellow passenger in the toilet of an express train early Thursday. The incident was reported to the railway helpline and later to the Govt Railway Police at Secunderabad station. The accused, a 22-year-old from Bihar, was detained, and a case has been filed under the Pocso and IT Acts.

HYDERABAD: A 12-year-old girl travelling with her family in the AC compartment of an express train was allegedly raped by another passenger in the toilet in the early hours of Thursday. The incident comes close on the heels of a rape attempt on a 25-year-old woman on board an MMTS train in Hyderabad on March 22. The woman had jumped out of the moving train to save herself and luckily survived the fall.In the latest case, the girl's family, who hail from Odisha, first registered their grievance with the railway helpline and later lodged a complaint with the Govt Railway Police (GRP) after the train arrived at Secunderabad station on Thursday. Sources said that the 22-year-old accused, a native of Bihar, was detained immediately on the train's arrival, but police are yet to confirm it.

According to cops, the girl along with her sibling and parents had boarded the train on Tuesday. The accused was seated next to the family. As per the family's complaint, the man cornered the child when she went to the toilet alone while her family was asleep. The accused allegedly confined her in the toilet for over 30 minutes, assaulted her and also filmed the act.
He allowed her to go back to her seat after threatening her with dire consequences if she told it to anyone.However, the girl informed her parents in the morning, following which her father confronted the accused and took away his mobile phone in which he found his daughter's photos and videos.A rape case has been registered under the Pocso Act and also IT Act following the father's complaint, as per a press release from GRP. (The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
