HYDERABAD: Chief secretary Rajiv Sharma on Saturday instructed heads of all departments in the

government

that all original files of existing districts must be kept safe under lock and key in record rooms as part of the process of district reorganization.

Rajiv Sharma said files to be moved to new districts must be scanned copies of the originals to ensure no loss of records in the process of shifting documents to the new district offices. He chaired a review meeting with senior

bureaucrats

on preparations for inaugurating the new districts on Dasara.

The Chief Secretary''s concern is justified since who knows which pink rodent will eat away the files? There is a Telugu saying which says that it is difficult to save one''s valuables from a thief in the house. I hope there is a similar proverb in that illusory Mulki Bhasha ! Any way the CS knows what he is saying and hope he also means it when the chips are down to take action.
