KCR’s 5-day yagam begins, 300 seers perform rituals

Hyderabad: A five-day

yagam

began at chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s farmhouse at

Erravelli

in Gajwel with Visakhapatnam Sarada peetam’s Swami Sampoornananda Saraswati performing the rituals.

Over 300 seers participated in the yagam, where KCR and his wife Shobha took part in the rituals of the “Sahasra Chandi yagam” for three hours.

, KCR’s family members, including KT Rama Rao, Kavitha Kalvakuntla and T Harish Rao, took part in the yagam which began at 11 am.

Several TRS legislators and former ministers took part in the ceremonies.

Sringeri peetam seer Tangirala Sitarama Sastry from Karnataka, Madugula Manikya Somayajulu, Rig Veda pandit Narendra Kapre and other prominent seers performed the yagam along with other ritwiks who performed the Durga saptsati parayanam. A special vehicle with 1,000 modaks was made for the occasion.

Rituals were performed before cows and prayers were offered to the gurus during the yagam. Four yagams, including the Sahasra Chandi yagam, were performed for the first time on the same day. State legislative council chairman Swamy Goud, TRS secretary general K Kesava Rao,
