It may be mentioned here that a five-member TRS delegation led by KCR, had gone to New Delhi on Sunday evening to appraise the prime minister, Sonia Gandhi and other national leaders about the urgency to initiate measures to carve a separate state and also explain how the realtors from Andhra region had been indulging in land grabbing in Telangana.
However, Rao succeeded in meeting the President Pratibha Patil and BJP leader LK Advani. Pratibha Patil advised Rao to call off the proposed fast unto death to be launched at Siddipet in Medak district later this month. The delegation explained her about the injustice meted to Telangana people by the successive state governments for the last 50 years. During the 20-minute interaction with the president, TRS leaders explained about the implementation of 610 GO, recent Supreme Court judgment making Hyderabad a free zone and 1969 struggle for Telangana etc, according to party sources. She assured them that she would draw the attention of the government towards the issues raised by them.
During his meeting with Advani, Rao emphasised on the need for all Telangana forces to fight unitedly for the cause of a separate state. Rao claimed that Advani has assured his support to the movement to be launched by him.
Later speaking to newsmen at New Delhi, KCR said he would participate in dharna organised by TRS at Laxmi Nagar at Papannapet mandal in Medak district on Tuesday in protest against the encroachment of dalit lands by Andhra settlers and realtors. The dharna will be continued till the government evacuates the encroachers from the village, he said.
