HYDERABAD: Badwel MLA P M Kamalamma, who was elusive on Tuesday, surfaced on Wednesday and announced that she did not leave the
YS Jaganmohan Reddy camp. Reportedly unhappy with the treatment in Jagan's camp, the Congress MLA is in touch with health minister and ruling party candidate for the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat D L Ravindra Reddy, who had claimed on Tuesday that she has switched loyalty to the ruling camp.
While Kamalamma eluded the media and being seen in public on Tuesday, she was spotted late in the night in Porumamalla village where Jagan had held a road show earlier. On Wednesday morning, in the same village, she made it clear to the media that she is with Jagan.
In the meantime, former MLA and Congress poll manager in Badwel K Sivaramakrishnaiah said Kamalamma was under tremendous pressure from the Jagan camp. "She might have been forced to declare that she is with Jagan. We don't believe this. She is a Congress leader and will remain with Congress. She will issue a statement in a day or two," Ramakrishnaiah told TOI from Badwel.
A fierce battle is going on for the control of Badwel which is a stronghold of the Congress. In 2004, both Kamalamma and Jagan had secured 40,000 majority in the Lok Sabha and assembly polls.Kamalamma, a former lecturer from Nellore, was picked up by YSR before 2004 and has been with Jagan since YSR's death.
