WARANGAL: The government is planning to organise a three-day ‘Kakatiya Festival’ in November this year, to highlight the historical importance and cultural grandeur of Warangal, major and minor irrigation minister Kadiyam Srihari said on Tuesday.
Addressing a meeting at the Collectorate, Srihari said the festival would be conducted from November 17 to November 19.

The minister said the administration would take necessary steps to make the festival a grand success.
Srihari said a high-level committee would be constituted to prepare a comprehensive action plan for the Kakatiya Festival.
The minister also said the administration was considering to conduct the festival as a national event.
Government whip in the Assembly Dayakar Rao said the government had decided to install a Kakatiya Dwara at the entrance point of the district at Pembarthi in view of the festival.
District collector Prabhakar Reddy said the festival would be conducted on a grand note and photo exhibitions would be arranged, mirroring the cultural and political achievements under the Kakatiya rule.

He said that the administration would install the statues of Kakatiya rulers Ganapathideva, Pratapa Rudra and Rani Rudrama in the district headquarters.
Warangal legislator Baswaraju Saraiah suggested to the district administration to make the festival a success.
Legislator Sudhakar Rao sought the inclusion of food festival on the occasion, while mayor T Rajeshwar Rao and Hanamkonda legislator Dharma Rao urged the administration to encourage the local folk art at the festival.
A core committee was constituted with Kadiyam Srihari as chief patron and whip Dayakar Rao, zilla parishad chairman Baswa Reddy and mayor Rajeshwar Rao as patrons. All the MLAs representing the district and IAS, IPS officials would be the members in the committee.
