HYDERABAD: A 54-ft-tall statue of the late NT Rama Rao will be installed in Khammam. The statue portrays the late actor-politician in his role as Lord Krishna from his movies. The former chief minister’s grandson Jr NTR is expected to be part of the ceremony to unveil the statue on May 28 on the occasion of the birth centenary of NT Rama Rao.
Transport minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar met actor Jr NTR in Hyderabad and invited him to unveil the statue.
Puvvada Ajay said the work on the statue has almost been completed and once it is unveiled, it will attract a lot of visitors. The statue is being erected on a basement of 1,000 feet by 36 feet dimensions.
The statue is being erected at a cost of Rs 2.3 crore. The minister said apart from NRIs, industrialists and businessmen have also contributed for the statue cost.
