Jazeera flight from Kuwait catches fire at Hyderabad airport

HYDERABAD: All 145

passengers

travelling from Kuwait to Hyderabad on board a Jazeera flight number J 9 608 had a narrow escape when the aircraft caught fire upon landing at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport(RGIA), in Hyderabad in the wee hours of Thursday.

The incident took place at 1:35 am on Thursday early monring when the engine located on the right side of the aircraft caught fire, immediately after landing. This occurred due to a ‘technical problem’, said officials.

The aircraft was stopped at the taxiway immediately and fire tenders rushed to the spot, by that time, the pilot had already stopped the engine.

The fire was gradually brought under control after which the aircraft was shifted to Bay number 59.

All the passengers disembarked safely and no injuries were reported, they added.
