HYDERABAD: For the first time in the country, professional kitists from Japan taught kite making to school children at a one-day kite making workshop at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Public School, Jubilee Hills on Saturday.

HYDERABAD: For the first time in the country, professional kitists from Japan taught kite making to school children from the twin cities at a one-day kite making workshop at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Public School, Jubilee Hills on Saturday.
About 400 students from 25 schools of twin cities participated in the kite making workshop. Organised by the Asa Bhanu Japan Centre in promoting Japanese art and culture, the workshop taught the children simple techniques in quality kite making.
The nine Japanese Kitists headed by Masaaki Modegi from the Japan Kite Association, Tokyo had arrived here to participate in the International Kite Festival 2004 at People''s Plaza, Necklace Road from January 13 to January 15.

The other Japanese kitists include Sachiko Modegi, Seiko and Akiko Nakamura, Mineichi and Fujiko Oguchi, Mineyo and Tasuke Kuwata and Ogawa Noburu.
